Bland, preachy, and redundant。 Also, each sentence sounds like a command that you just follow。 Lastly, should be classified as fiction or non-science (which it doesn’t mention in the preface)。 Not all bad experiences are because of bad thoughts。 Shit happens。 That’s life。

"What are you thinking now is creating your future life。"The Secret: This is completely different from what I was expecting。 I had hoped this to be a regular self-help book or a philosophy book, but it never felt like belonging to either of the two。 For me, it felt like a concoction of self-help, spirituality, psychology, philosophy and a little bit of business too。 It was obvious from the very beginning, that this is not the kind of book that will get a lot of mid-range reviews。 Most readers ar "What are you thinking now is creating your future life。"The Secret: This is completely different from what I was expecting。 I had hoped this to be a regular self-help book or a philosophy book, but it never felt like belonging to either of the two。 For me, it felt like a concoction of self-help, spirituality, psychology, philosophy and a little bit of business too。 It was obvious from the very beginning, that this is not the kind of book that will get a lot of mid-range reviews。 Most readers are going to go with either 1-star or 5-star ratings, which means you either love it or hate it, not in-between。"Whatever you sow, you reap! Your thoughts are seeds, and the harvest you reap will depend on the seeds you plant。"Let's talk the good first。 The content of the book is as simple as it could get。 The author uses a perfectly simple style of writing, and nothing is complex。 But what standout the most, is the enormous amount of quotes from other books and authors。 It did take some getting used to, but I have no complaints about that。 Everything attempts to shift one's attitude toward establishing a positive mindset, to practice the adaptation of The Secret。 Byrne goes above and beyond to let the principles sink in by repeating the contents all over the book, but that is not that unusual in spirituality/ philosophy reads。 If you had expected this to be a spiritual or positive thinking kind of book, you're most likely to love it。 Importance of having the mind filled of positive, constructive thoughts is explained very elaborately, while delivering a meditative/ relaxing reading experience。 "Time is just an illusion。 Einstein told us that。"However, the main concept: The Secret - it's where all the controversy would probably start。 If you have read Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, or Power of your subconscious mind by Murphy, or Peale's Power of Positive Thinking, and found them helpful, you'll feel right at home from the start。 Byrne proceeds along the same set of principles - or a combination of them - but the emphasis on the 'unforeseeable force' is lot stronger。 But if you have not read anything similar, or hated aforementioned books, this book is not for you in my opinion。 The inherent limitation to The Secret is that, there's no way to logically explain the mechanism。 Books like Think and Grow Rich, or Power of Your Subconscious Mind do attempt to shift the reader's pre-conceived opinions profoundly (which was the case with me) - either with logic or strong examples - but The Secret relies entirely on reader's acceptance of the principles without argument。 This is going to be a deal-breaker for a lot of rational readers。"You cannot harm another with your thoughts, you only harm you。"As for me。。。 I didn't hate it。 Hadn't I gone through Hawking's simplified explanations of quantum mechanics, or the books I've mentioned before, I probably wouldn't have found the content believable at all。 I mean, the book itself did not feel capable of shifting the reader's already accepted beliefs。 But, after Hawking's Grand Design and Briefer History of time, where he explained how 'thoughts' do change past and future according to quantum mechanics in a very interesting way, I find myself unwilling to disregard these concept entirely。 Also, Dr。 Murphy's Power of Your Subconscious Mind - one of my favorite books - approached some of the principles outlined in The Secret much more scientifically, which had shifted some of my views previously。 So, for me, this was a 3。5-star read。 But the end of the day - even with all this being said - if and when you pick this book, I still think you're either going to hate it or love it - nothing in-between。 "What quantum physicists and Einstein tell us is that everything is happening simultaneously。 If you can understand that there is no time, and accept that concept, then you will see that whatever you want in the future already exists。" 。。。more

Hated the format of the book。。。 The principles on the whole I enjoyed, but the theory of attracting disease such as cancer with your thoughts and negativity is not something I can get my head aroundThat aside, the rest of the content I enjoyed

I did really enjoy reading this and it had many very useful tips for the LOA, however, it seemed to get very repetitive after a while which is why I have it 4 stars。 Although, maybe this isn’t a point I should criticise because I did find myself many times thinking ‘ok what should I do then?’ And it would repeat a previous point and I’ll think ‘oh okay’。 Maybe it’s just because the format seemed to fit the documentary better! I don't know why I decided to read this, I tried to read it with an open mind but reached a point where I felt I couldn't go on with it。There is plenty of value in a book that advocates taking a positive outlook on life。 Thinking positive thoughts, being grateful for everything in your life, knowing your emotional landscape and looking after yourself are all really intrinsically rewarding。 Furthermore, there is plenty of evidence that the way we think about the world can influence the way in whi I don't know why I decided to read this, I tried to read it with an open mind but reached a point where I felt I couldn't go on with it。There is plenty of value in a book that advocates taking a positive outlook on life。 Thinking positive thoughts, being grateful for everything in your life, knowing your emotional landscape and looking after yourself are all really intrinsically rewarding。 Furthermore, there is plenty of evidence that the way we think about the world can influence the way in which our lives play out (e。g。 psychosomatic disorders, placebo effect, cognitive behavioral therapy, pygmalion effect etc)。 However, asserting that the law of attraction is a literal law of nature is verging on the delusional。According to this book "nothing can come into your experience unless you summon it through persistent thoughts"。 That surprised me, but it couldn't have because I could not have read that sentence without having had persistent thoughts about it beforehand。 Clearly surprises are an impossibility! Sarcasm aside, obviously things happen to us in our lives that we did not expect or think of beforehand and we've all obsessively thought about things that have never actually happened。 If you really believe what the book is saying then the implication is that everyone is responsible for everything that happens to them which is troubling because it permits no compassion。Apart from all the patently false assertions the book makes, the other thing that really bothered me about it was how heavily solipsistic and materialistic it felt。 If your entire world comes about through your thoughts alone then what kind of existence or autonomy do others in your life have? Am I only writing a negative review of this book because the author has been having negative thoughts?I don't really know how to engage with this book so I'm putting it down and moving on。 。。。more

2。5 stars。 My coworker highly recommended one and I liked the sound of it from the way she described it to me。 However, after reading this, while there’s some good concepts presented and worth incorporating into life, the way this information was presented was somewhat cheesy and surface level overall。 There’s also a myriad of typos, but yet it was still made into a movie。 It was like this book should’ve been advertised late at night on the home shopping network because it was so gimmicky。 I’m n 2。5 stars。 My coworker highly recommended one and I liked the sound of it from the way she described it to me。 However, after reading this, while there’s some good concepts presented and worth incorporating into life, the way this information was presented was somewhat cheesy and surface level overall。 There’s also a myriad of typos, but yet it was still made into a movie。 It was like this book should’ve been advertised late at night on the home shopping network because it was so gimmicky。 I’m not knocking the content, it’s got some legit merit, but it’s not necessarily top secret level revelations by a panel of people and aim not sure how they were selected to be contributors other than personal success stories based on these theories。 。。。more

You are God in a physical body。 You are spirit in the flesh。 You are eternal life expressing itself as you。 You are a cosmic being。 You are all power。 You are all wisdom。 You are all intelligence。" 。。more

I’m sorry but that is just riddled with so much dangerous diet culture language, pushing forward the idea that “fat” equates to “bad” (which is absolute bs)。 And as someone with a chronic illness, the chapter on illnesses made my skin crawl。 I am a chronic illness mindset coach and literally use LOA, mindfulness, and manifestation techniques with my clients every day but would never in a million years suggest their thoughts are what is keeping them from curing their literal incurable illnesses。 That self blame is, again, dangerous rhetoric to use。 As much as I (and many of my clients) know firsthand thoughts can entirely change our lives and experiences with chronic illness, I do not think the language of “your thoughts created your illness” is helpful。 I was a happy 21 year old when I was diagnosed, already focusing on mindset work。 I know mom’s with 3-year-olds diagnosed with illnesses。。。 and I have a feeling that 3 year old didn’t have a bad mindset that brought it on。 So, in conclusion, I never write reviews on here but felt too strongly not to for this book。 There are SO MANY better books on law of attraction and mindset work that do not carry dangerous rhetoric。 Save your time and choose a different book on these topics!!! 。。。more

I can’t even remember when I started this book。 It has taken me a long time to read it but I wanted to get to the end。 I have taken a few points of value from it and the basic idea of being positive and attracting positive things seems a good one。 I am trying to be a more positive thinker。 However the idea that every bad event is basically drawn to you by your thinking, is not something I can agree with, in the context of the people of know, or historical events I have learned about。 This book j I can’t even remember when I started this book。 It has taken me a long time to read it but I wanted to get to the end。 I have taken a few points of value from it and the basic idea of being positive and attracting positive things seems a good one。 I am trying to be a more positive thinker。 However the idea that every bad event is basically drawn to you by your thinking, is not something I can agree with, in the context of the people of know, or historical events I have learned about。 This book just wasn’t for me。 。。。more

After reading it, my thoughts changed! Every time when I start to feeling sad or moody i will automatically alert myself that i should think the way i want instead of focusing on feeling bad way。 Super useful! Recommend for everyone!
